Subject: Bonus ?
Why do some sectors give bonus ? Why do some professions get bonus’ ?
Have you ever thought about this ?
In the financial and banking sectors this started as marketing gimmick that became a tradition and has overshadowed anyone’s imagination beyond believe.
It seems each financial professional’s birth right to receive a bonus in today’s world.
Millions of dollars as bonus to staff because they made money for their companies. Really.
Have you heard of an airline pilot getting a bonus because he landed 300 people safely ? Oh that’s his job I hear. He is paid to do that.
Okay, have you heard of a surgeon getting a bonus because he saved a life ? Ditto as the pilot !
Take a miner, chemist, architect, carpenter, mason, lawyer, …you get the jist of it..name anyone other the those in banking/finance.
Says a lot ? About many thing we read today in the press. The state of the world economy. The credit era which has bought the world down to the knees with debt. So these high IQ professionals made a lot of money for their companies and hence got awarded with bonus. Yes ? Now the same companies have no clue how to make even more money..where is the world heading towards.
Some blame it all on the word ‘credit’….This line sums it all. People buy what they do not need, cannot afford to please somebody they do not know.
Yes you are thinking right, in many rich countries, 3 people live in a 5 bedroom mansion, own many cars, boats plane etc – and it is termed as a high standard of living.
The Occupy wall street, Occupy LA, Occupy this that and the other has all started due to what ? no politics here..just plain old people on the street who have become aware, more aware. Some tend to forget we live in an information age with newer generation having access to much more than 2 decades ago. Public is not stupid.
Why can all the professions not do their job for a salary – period ?
Profit share is okay when a company achieves its target and some portion of the surplus is equally given to ALL staff. That makes logical sense.
But why millions to a CEOs, CFOs, COOs or even Investment banking managers ? what extra did they do which the pilot or the surgeon did not.
If you have some serious intelligent quotient and are humanly alive, you will ponder upon this…
